Foxgloves - Grasscutting
I’ve been getting numerous complaints about grass cutting and shrub control along pathways in Foxgolves.
I am passing these on to the council department concerned and trying to obtain a confirmed date for these to be dealt with. The current response is that there are financial problems relating the provision of landscaping maintenance in that location and basically no money available at present.
I am working together with the Parish Council to arrange a meeting to discuss this issue further with SCDC and see what progress can be made.
Boundary review
As you may be aware there is likely to be a boundary review which will affect Foxgloves residents in particular. There can be no boundary change until any such review is completed and residents’ opinions considered. This process is likely to take several years. I am very keen to hear what your thoughts and questions are about this matter.
My position is that I am keen local residents’ views are heard and respected and that any questions they may have are answered. I can see both advantages and disadvantages to this issue, but at present my main concern is to ensure that those residents who may be affected by this are not negelected by SCDC in the meantime because of any underlying assumption that they may soon become someone else’s responsibility.
Foxgloves - What’s in a name?
I’ve always thought that ‘Foxgloves’ was a very pretty name for an important part of Teversham and it is certainly one which the parish council uses to describe the area between the railway, Gazelle Way and Airport Way. During my election campaign in November 2008 I spoke to lots of people who had different views- there were those who liked the name, those who just wanted to be known simply as Teversham and those who identified more with Cherry Hinton. I’d be really interested to hear what your views are on this and how you would like to be referred to in future.
Tamarin Gardens Road Signs
Local residents in Tamarin Gardens have complained to Frances that the signs in the area don’t make it clear enough their cul de sac is a dead end. Drivers think they can get out onto Gazelle Way, and instead have to turn round noisily, right outside people’s houses. Frances has contacted the Council asking for a new sign to be put up to alert drivers that they are approaching a cul de sac.
Frances said “The cul de sacs in Tamarin Gardens should be quiet streets where children can play – not clogged up with rat runners having to reverse all the time! I will keep up the pressure on the county”.
